Employer liability insurance needed as Irish industrial worker loses life
Posted on August 12th 2009
It is widely reported by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) that after construction and agricultural workers, England's factory workforce are employed in one of the most hazardous industries.
The morning of Monday 10 August, bore witness to yet another accident in the industrial sector as a worker at the Engineering and Construction Products in Kilkeel, County Down lost his life. The factory owners will certainly be activating their employers liability insurance very soon.
It was reported that the man in his forties became entwined and trapped with a piece of machinery. He was later taken to Daisy Hill Hospital in Newry but died of the injuries he sustained.
It is more than likely that following similar injuries sustained by factory workers, many of which are reported by the HSE, that the machinery in question was not sufficiently guarded or training given to the injured man was inadequate for usage.
These accidents are a common occurrence that more often than not can be prevented with the right measures.
Tradesman insurance provides employers liability insurance and public liability insurance for tradesman and construction workers, acknowledging their legal obligation to do so and helping to secure minimal liability insurance premiums.
