Fork lift truck accident secures £143000 payout
Posted on January 30th 2009
A driver of an electric tug has been awarded a £143,000 payout after a fork lift truck hit the side of his vehicle and he was told that he would never work again.
The worker was driving the electric tug through the warehouse that he was contracted to work in when a fork lift truck drove into the side of him lifting his vehicle off the ground. When his vehicle came back to the ground he was slammed back in to his seat, causing him to crack his ribs by hitting them against the steering wheel.
The pain caused by his cracked ribs was so severe that he did not realise that he had also crushed three discs in his spine, meaning that he would not be able to work again.
When taking his employer to court they tried arguing that the damage was originally caused before he was employed, however he argued that he would never have passed his trial, winning the case and receiving £143,000.
