Local businesman helps local tradesmen

Mark Carruthers a businessman from New Addington has decided to take action against the recession rather than stand by and let it take control of him and his town. The idea was to use his position as a store manager, to find jobs in the local area that needed to be done, then to sub-contract them to local tradesmen under the company H&T Services. He thought of this after customers where coming into his hardware store and talking to him about a lack of jobs in the area. Mr Carruthers said: "I was determined to choose local people for the work so that the money could circulate in the area."
Mr Carruthers has already had huge success from this, securing around 50 decorating jobs in local shops, and by using his contacts to look for work he has landed contracts worth up to £70,000. These have helped keep at least 4 local tradesmen in business for 6 months securing them full-time work throughout.
