Railtrack delivery driver released on bail

Posted on January 01st 2010

A lorry driver has recently been released on bail after he was arrested at the scene of a collision between his lorry and a double decker bus in south west London.

A spokesman for the police commented that the man who has yet to be identified was released after being arrested for suspected careless driving. The crash which happened on the Plough Road, Clapham in the middle of the morning rush hour injured over 17 people who were all taken to the local hospital.

Similarly, spectators were aghast to see the fire service cut some 30 passengers free from the overturned bus and over 5 people were sent to be critically injured, including the driver of the bus. The collision was made worse as the contents of the DAF lorry spilled across the road and the weight of the rail tracks caused further damage to the bus.
